Mark Magnacca served as President of the Ward of Cheap Club in 2024. During his year, he sought to share his passion for the City, build on the wonderful traditions of the Club and give back what he could in terms of his experience and enthusiasm to make the Ward Club a little more attractive to new members, a little more relevant, and a little more modern.
Patricia Edmunds, a Chartered Secretary by profession, spent most of her career as a company secretary for BT at the BT Centre on Newgate Street. Since retiring, Patricia has dedicated her time to various civic and charitable roles, contributing her skills and expertise to organisations like The Ward of Cheap Club, The Lady Mico Trust, Glaziers Hall, and The Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She views the Club as a support network for businesses in the City, facilitating communication between business owners and the Alderman.
Nick Bensted-Smith, currently the Upper Warden of the Worshipful Company of Loriners and a Liveryman of the Goldsmiths' Company, served as President of the Ward Club of Cheap in 2022. His journey into City life began almost 40 years ago when he joined a stockbroking firm as a research analyst. After a successful 25-year career in the financial sector, Nick transitioned into local government, becoming a Common Councillor for the Ward of Cheap.
Adrian Waddingham CBE has made significant contributions to the City of London through his multifaceted career and governance roles. A founding partner of Barnett Waddingham LLP, the largest independent firm of actuaries in the UK, Adrian has also served as non-Aldermanic Sheriff, Master of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries, President of the Ward of Cheap Club, and a member of the Council of City and Guilds. In 2012, he was awarded the CBE for services to pensions and the actuarial profession.
Charles Ledsam, who served as President of the Ward of Cheap Club during its 158th year, navigated his agenda through video calls and phone conversations due to Covid. After 39 years in the City of London, Charles's tenure exemplified change, resilience, and adaptability in a historically significant area. He sees the Club as a platform for diverse perspectives and collective contributions.
